Heather Mills McCarthy – At What Price For Dancing With The Stars?
Heather Mills McCarthy – At What Price For Dancing With The Stars?
By Clara Freeman
Let me clarify right off the bat. I would be the first person to rally around anyone who wants to follow their dream by going for the gusto and refusing to quit until the job is done, come hell,or,high waters. However, the physical pain that some Stars, and, or, celebrities, or, people in the news by association, put themselves through, seemingly, for the thrill of it all, does not set too well with me…
Case in point: The WOMAN IN THE NEWS Heather Mills McCarthy. If I could ask a question of this brave 30 something woman who in spite of being labeled as a sort of gold-digger in regards to her short, fairytale, but stormy marriage and subsequent divorce to one of the Beatles, Sir Paul McCarthy , I d ask WHY ?
Why would a woman who have suffered the trauma of losing a limb want to put herself through the pain of competition in the reality based show Dancing With The Stars? Why?…Ok, you have a little girl. Have you considered what might happen to her if you somehow injured yourself? She d go live with her daddy! If dancing has always been a dream of your, sort of like being long-legged, rich and a famously well read New York Author has been mine…why not settle for a little ballroom, a bit of line dancing and a few risque nights of shaking your booty up in the club?… Dancing With The Stars, the show where famous wanna be dancers are placed in the hands of professionals and put through the paces of several dance routines,,strenuous dance workouts…Heather, are you sure your ORTHOPEDIC PHYSICIANS have given you the green light on what to expect ?
Because I had to forgo that wonderful dream of mine, not without feeling a bit of stress related pain from the reality that my dream was not happening in my lifetime, I became a professional nurse. I shamefully admit my failure here, in order to reassure Ms. Mills McCarthy that she should reconsider making this dream a reality. I mean, at what price , in order to say, I told you so, or, I want to be the inspiration for all amputees out there? I have a reality check here. Amputees are people too, and we all have limitations, whether we have one leg, or, two…I have seen in my profession how pressure from constant wear and tear of prosthesis can cause considerable pain and scarring. What Heather Mills plan to do to herself by entering this competition, I can only surmise as I am glued to the Television come March 19th..
To dream the impossible …well, you know how it goes…must be a darn good feeling to see that dream to fruition…For Ms. Heather Mills McCarthy, this writer wishes her the best and hope it s worth the grueling pain of competition she will endure… but, on a lighter note, the woman can always move herself to America, enroll her child in a private school and write a tell all that will have her appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show whereby, the book becomes a number one best seller…well, there are always options and other dreams to make reality…
